02 / A FAMILY BUSINESS
Otley is home.
It always has been.
A family business, passed from one generation to the next.
Alan Sowden started the plumbing and heating business in 1979. In 2004, he opened the merchant here in Candleworks Yard. Today the family team includes Alan, Phillip, Kathryn and Jack, with Kathryn looking after the shop and office.
Even the shop has watched the family grow: a homemade height chart records the children and grandchildren through the years.

Superb this place. I went it for a really short flexible connector - the lady serving was extremely helpful and got me the two I needed in no time, very reasonable prices too. 5* no messing 🙏

I was fortunate to meet the owner at another plumbers' merchants who was struggling to supply the correct part I needed. Mr Sowden offered to help and quickly sorted me out. Really great customer service by someone who obviously knows his business. Thank you.
